While waiting patiently at the venue for Olamide’s show in Dallas to kick-off, I decided to pass the time by examining what people were wearing. That was when it struck me- the skinny jeans trend. 80% of the attendees were on skinny jeans. Even the male artist on stage was wearing a skinny jean that revealed his thin legs. Ah!

Skinny jeans have become a popular fashion trend among men and women alike. You find women wear skinny jeans on high heels and men wear theirs with boots or sneakers. This brings a question to mind, how safe are skinny jeans?

The dangers of wearing skinny jeans were emphasized following the case of a 35-year-old woman, which was widely published in 2015.

The medics said in the Journal of Neurology, Neurosurgery, and Psychiatry that her skinny jeans had to be cut out after her calves ballooned in size.

The woman had spent several hours squatting and developed a condition called compartment syndrome, which was made worse by her skinny jeans. Her feet were numb and she found it difficult to walk.

Four days after being admitted to the hospital, she resumed walking without aid.

Men, who prefer Russell Brand tight jeans look, might be at a risk of developing testicle complications and bladder problems, say medical experts. Skinny jeans may look nice but it can cause urinary tract infections, bladders weakness, and twisted testicles. Reports from some skinny jeans wearers suggest that many have suffered discomfort.

Skinny jeans have been related to low sperm count and fungal infections. According to medical experts, more men are suffering from painful testicle complications, and the main cause seems to be skinny jeans.

To prevent developing muscular complications from skinny jeans, wear them with precaution. Ensure that you do not stay in one position for a long time. Stretch at intervals. Wearing skinny jeans on a long trip might not be a bright idea. It is better to commit a fashion faux pas than end up with numb legs.
